The We All Snore the Same Language Project is a world-wide campaign to raise awareness of the medical problems associated with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea and to emphasize the role that specially trained dentists can play in recognition and management of sleep breathing disorders.
Snoring isn't sexy ... in any language. Accordingly, we at Snoring isn't Sexy are are out to prove that these common ailments - which are shared by people of different cultures, races, religions, and nationalities - serve to unite us.
The project came about at a year-end review of the visitor statistics at SnoringIsntSexy.com. We found that by the end of 2010, we had been visited by 3/4 of a million people from 192 countries on all 7 continents. We have been visited by people in countries whose governments have declared them to be enemies of the U.S., and by people living in countries considered allies. We have been visited by city dwellers and those in rural areas and even folks at an isolated base in Antarctica.
But we all have one thing in common - we all snore in the same language.
The We All Snore the Same Language Project is here to celebrate our commonality rather than to emphasize our differences...
AND WE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE SOME FUN DOING IT!
So here's what we'd like to do.
We invite you to send us a video saying "I snore too!" in whatever languageyou speak, recorded at any location in the world. Send the video in an EMAIL with your first name, city/town/village and country in the email and we'll put together a video for YouTube.com to spread the word. Naturally, we'd love to have videos from the United States, Canada and the rest of the English speaking world as well.
We can accept .mov, .avi, .mpeg or .wmv files or simply point us to a video on YouTube.com and we'll take care of the rest.
DON'T HAVE A VIDEO CAMERA? No problem, just send us a jpeg (max. size 1 MB) of you holding a sign with the words "I Snore Too" in your language and we'll incorporate it, too.
WIth nearly 7 billion people in the world, half of us snoring - we should really be able to make some noise.
And maybe, just maybe we can find dentists with experience in dental sleep medicine all over the world to join with us to get everyone with obstructive sleep apnea diagnosed and treated.
