She completed her undergraduate studies in 1985 at the College of St. Elizabeth. She went on to study dentistry at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School and graduated in 1991.

As a Certified Invisalign Provider and member of numerous orthodontic organizations for general dentists, Dr. Adams is able to incorporate tooth movement, be it minor or major, to supplement a patient's care. She looks at the whole face and takes into consideration future growth when designing a patient's treatment plan.

Looking at the whole patient is a priority for Dr. Adams. Whether it is a reluctant three year old who is visiting the office for the first time, or a patient with complex dental needs, Dr. Adams takes the time to understand the patient's needs, make them comfortable and provide an outstanding level of care.

    Biography:

Dr. Vicki Borowski has been practicing dentistry in the Dallas/Plano/Frisco area for 24 years, after graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Her journey in the study of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and snoring began after spending many sleepless nights listening to her husband's erratic breathing and snoring. Taking matters into her own hands, she started attending continuing classes on sleep disorders and OSA.

Having practiced Cosmetic and General dentistry for over 24 years, Dr. Borowski knows that many times the dentist is the first person to diagnose sleep disorders or Obstructive Sleep Apnea. She knows that many other disorders of the body have oral symptoms, including OSA. Patients who don't see a physcian regularly may go undiagnosed for many years.

Dr. Borowski believes that each patient needs to be treated as an individual. No single treatment plan or oral appliance will work for everyone. Just as the CPAP, while the current gold standard for OSA, is not tolerable to many patients. Dr. Borowski uses the current guildines  for oral appliances established by the AASM/AADSM.

She is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, The American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dallas County Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.  She spend many hours in continuing education yearly and is dedicated to helping her patients become healthier and better sleepers.

Dr. Borowski and her team believe in the value of trust, and they work very hard to establish and maintain trusting relationships with all of their patients. That is why they provide their patients with the best possible treatments in an ideal setting, making sure that the level of service and care far exceeds patient expectations. In addition, the team encourages each and every patient to explore their treatment options and to ask questions. If you are curious about any aspect of your treatment, the possibilities available to you, or alternative treatment please ask!

    Biography:

Dr. Lawson graduated in 1986 from the University of Manitoba. While general dentistry was his full time service from 1986 until 2001 he immediately developed a keen interest in orthodontics and the dynamics of the growing face. He has completed extensive training all over North America from leaders in Orthodontics, Functional Jaw Orthopedics and Myofunctional Therapy. Over the past 10 years his focus has been on Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ/TMD) and Snoring and Sleep Apnea. Today Dr. Lawson incorporates all of these entities in his diagnosis and proposed treatment plans for his patients. The end result- Health Jaw Joints, Healthy Airway, a Great Smile and an Improved Quality ofLlife

Over the past 24 years Dr Lawson has completed mini-residencies and advanced residencies in Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) and Snoring and Sleep Apnea. His new facility is a Licensed TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centre, and he works closely with a group of specialists (ENT’s, Respirologists , and RN’s ) at Rana Respiratory Wellness Centre in Winnipeg offering solutions to patients with Snoring or Obstructive Sleep Apnea

In 2005 Dr. Lawson limited his practice to treating these conditions and his new facility utilizes the latest technology to diagnose and treat patients and return them to a state of health where they can enjoy life free from pain and discomfort. He also realizes that the developing face and dentition of children can be positively influenced with similar conservative, non surgical methods which enhance function and facial balance. This will ensure that our children do not suffer from the symptoms associated with unbalanced jaw relationships or an obstructed airway.

The TMJ and Dental Sleep Therapy Centre of Winnipeg is dedicated to a comprehensive and differential approach to diagnosis of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction and treatment of patients with Sleep Disordered breathing as well as orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.

    Biography:

Dr. Melnick has been serving the dental needs on Long Island since 1983. A graduate of Bethpage High School in Nassau County, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois in 1982. Committed to on-going continuing education, Dr. Melnick has completed hundreds of hours of advanced dental training.

For the past 15 years, he has successfully treated many patients whose primary concern was snoring.. Dr. Melnick has studied extensively and actively pursues advanced training courses throughout the country relating to sleep disorders and the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea so that he can incorporate the latest in research and technology into the treatment he offers.  He works closely with Certified Sleep Physicians as well as ENT specialists, Cardiologists, and other specialists to obtain the best treatment available for patients with obstructive sleep apnea.  Alternatives to CPAP treatment for patients with sleep apnea have improved the sleep and general health of many people. Patients, as well as their spouses, have been very happy with the oral appliances that are made and have referred many friends and family members who also have sleep apnea.

Dr. Melnick incorporates many technologies into his sleep practice, such as the pharyngometer and rhinometer to evaluate a patients airway and help to determine if an oral appliance would be beneficial for a specific individual. In addition, at-home monitoring is available through the office to assist with the adjustment of an oral appliance.

The Doctor himself is a sleep apnea patient and successfully wears an oral appliance to treat this condition. He can relate to his patients who also have sleep issues and candidly discusses the condition as well as the different treatment available.

As a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Sleep Apnea Association, he only uses oral appliances that have been FDA approved for the treatment of Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  With many options in appliances available for the patient, Dr. Melnick customizes the appropriate appliance for each individual patient's needs.

    Biography:

Dr. Sue Ellen Richardson became devoted to the science of dental sleep medicine after sleep apnea disturbances caused her mother to fall out of bed, cracking one of her vertebras. Her mother proved to be CPAP intolerant. After intense researching sleep apnea and its treatments, Dr. Richardson fabricated her mother an oral appliance that allowed her to sleep safely and restfully. Dr. Richardson felt so relieved and grateful that her own field of expertise, dentistry, could provide her mother help and eliminate the significant dangers associated with her untreated condition. Soon thereafter Dr. Richardson fitted a young woman with an oral appliance which stopped her snoring. The appliance allowed the young lady leave the sofa and to return to sharing their bed quietly with her husband; her loud snoring no longer kept him awake.

These experiences proved so successful that Dr. Richardson started to treat more and more patients and soon realized what a valuable option Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) was to herself and her patients.

In 2009, Dr. Richardson joined the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, where she is currently working on completing the requirements for Diplomate Status at the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine as well as the American Academy of Craniofacial Medicine.

She continues to increase her knowledge and commitment in the treatment of apnea and snoring by following the recommended guidelines for treatment with intra-oral appliances in Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and snoring management. Before recommending a specific brand of appliance to a patient, Dr. Richardson has actually first tried the appliance on herself. Dr. Richardson only works with FDA approved appliances for the treatment of snoring and OSA. Other types do exist but can be limiting. At present, she prefers to work with several types of adjustable appliances, choice of which is dependent on many patient factors.

Dr. Richardson is devoted to the well-being of her patients and communication with referring members of the medical and dental fields. Her commitment to offering patients an option to treat their OSA and snoring is saving lives and marriages every day.

Chosen as one of H Magazine's Top Dentists of 2010, and Texas Monthly's Super Dentists of 2010, Dr. Richardson is proud to deliver dental care to her friends and neighbors. She completed her undergraduate studies at Rice University. She went on to study dentistry at the University of Texas Dental School at Houston and graduated in 1980. The Academy of General Dentistry honored her with a Mastership for her completion of its rigorous comprehensive broad post doctorate education.

She has traveled the country and spent hundreds of hours in seminars, study clubs and other continuing education courses in order to stay current on advances in the field. As a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Richardson is able to help diagnose and treat both snoring and sleep apnea. Whether it is just snoring that is disturbing a bed partner, or the more dangerous Obstructive Sleep Apnea, that puts you at higher risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and diabetes, Dr. Richardson can treat these situations with the use of a customized oral appliance.

    Biography:

I have always been interested in sleep. I never imagined I could help our patients by the interface of dentistry, medicine and sleep.

Sleep is very complex. The physiological changes that occur in sleep have direct impact on how we approach our waking hours.

Daytime sleepiness is a symptom of lack of sleep that should be taken seriously. Today, we can test how you are sleeping through a sleep study performed in a hospital/ sleep center or from a mobile monitor in the comfort of your own home. Snoring is not funny.  It certainly can have an impact on relationships. More importantly, if there is apnea (oxygen deprivation) during sleep, it can be life threatening.

Today there are many different avenues that can be taken for treatment. Deciding which regimen is right for our patients is something my staff and I find very gratifying.

    Biography:

Dr. Stuart was born in Illinois and moved to Southern California when he was five years old. He spent his childhood and teen age years doing the kinds of things that were done in LA in the 1950s and 60s. School, cars, surf, fun and sun. In late 1965 he was drafted into the United States Army and served a year of duty as an airborne combat medic in the jungles of Vietnam. During that time he had the extreme good fortune to meet and become friends with a medical doctor who saw potential in him and inspired him to do something meaningful with his life.

Upon his release from the military, he set his goals and began his college education at Santa Monica City College and then went on to the University of Southern California to finish his undergraduate work and obtain his doctorate degree from its school of dentistry.

In 1975, he, his wife and first child moved to Marin County California where he began his practice of general dentistry. During that time, he's been grateful that he's made the effort and had the good fortune to be a part of an evolution of modern dentistry that allows him to do things for his patients that he could have never dreamed of doing as a 21 year old sitting in a wet foxhole in Vietnam.

"Being able to provide relief for people suffering from head and neck pain, helping people with potentially life-threatening sleep breathing disorders, and rejuvenating unattractive smiles to the highest standards with the use of modern porcelain technology" -- are the three things that still keep Dr. Stuart most motivated and rewarded in the daily practice of his chosen profession.
